Science

We will be starting off the year with the Wetlands Unit. This connects nicely with the Grade 4 Waste and Our World Unit. We will be learning about the interactions that exist within an ecosystem and the impacts that human activities have.

Math

Currently the students have been working on place value, as this skill will be fundamental as we move towards addition and subtraction in the coming months. The students have also been completing assessments to give me a better idea of where their specific strengths lie and where greater focus is needed.

Language Arts

We have begun the year by exploring the wonderful world of narrative writing. By reading and examining the works of Roald Dahl every morning, we learn what an interesting story consists of. Through practice, students will be provided with the building blocks of writing that will allow them to create imaginative and engaging stories.

Religion

We have begun Unit 1 for both grades. The focus thus far has been how we are all welcome as well as how the Christian community is made up of unique and diverse people who gather as one.

Social Studies

So far this year, we have been exploring the vastness of our Country and getting more familiar with the map of Canada. As we progress, the students will gain a better understanding of our regions and the physical geography they consist of.

Health

To start out our year, students will be learn how to make responsible and informed choices to maintain their health as well as promoting the safety of themselves and others.
